TMS for Treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorders
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) uses electromagnetic induction to excite or inhibit groups of neurons in the brain (see http://goo.gl/ZRlz and video). While TMS has been used to treat various disorders such as depression (http://goo.gl/Myc1Wp), there is recent evidence suggesting that TMS may also be beneficial for treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorders (http://goo.gl/8QzLQe, but see http://goo.gl/cdeovt). See also http://goo.gl/zgHpQq and http://goo.gl/HgPm9X for more information about using TMS with ASD. In tomorrow’s Hangout On Air (see http://goo.gl/X1Lu07 for event post) we will be talking with Autism Brainstorm (http://goo.gl/M0J7AD) and John Elder Robison about some current research in autism.
