Shaker Cherukuri – this is the fourth or fifth time that we have shared this circle. We recently found out that we could notify 270+ people, so this is the first time that people received a notification about this circle. In the past, we could only notify 100 people about a post.

Looks like a really interesting circle, it is great to be a part of it. It is encouraging to see the science community grow here on G+, I will try to make sure I get stuff posted a little more regularly about my work for so many people who are expressing an interest in the area.

I’m confused by G+. I don’t quite understand what this is or how to interact with it. Suppose I don’t want to join the circle, but I want to follow science-related posts? Do I just important everyone in this circle into a new circle I control [which of course won’t update when people join this circle?]

Hi Kenneth Read. You’re not a troll. No need to apologize. I actually looked at that exact link when we were trying to divide the database in half. I’ll give it another look.
rif a. saurous – You got it. If you want to follow the people in this circle, then click add circle. I definitely recommend adding the circle as a temporary circle (as opposed to mixing it with your existing circles). This will make it easier to delete the circle if you change your mind down the road.

Chris Robinson: But if I add it, I’m adding people currently in it, right? There’s no way to add/follow the circle itself? If I like it I just come back every month or whatever and re-add?
Is that the desired use case for this circle, or is there some other point to having it?

rif a. saurous – shared circles are static and do not automatically update. Thus, you would only be adding 231 people to your circles It would be nice if we had the option to post dynamic circles (e.g., your circle automatically updates when Science on Google+: A Public Database updates their circles), but that is currently not an option.
